Jorge Taiana, the Minister of Defense, took center stage on Wednesday as he led the celebration of the International Day of Working Women at the Libertador Building. Women from the Armed Forces and the Ministry participated in the event, which included the inauguration of an exhibition of allusive photos and a concert by the military band "Juana Azurduy," composed of women from the Argentine Army.
Taiana spoke about the importance of women's growing participation in the Armed Forces, emphasizing that it enriches them and makes them more representative of society. He also acknowledged that there is still much work to be done to address gender inequalities and strengthen the rights of women and dissidents.
To that end, the minister announced that a gender perspective agenda would be carried out throughout March, with a focus on promoting equal opportunities and removing obstacles. He also highlighted the start of a new cohort of the Micaela Law, which promotes cultural transformation through training and education on gender issues.
Taiana called for everyone's commitment to carry out the trainings conscientiously, recognizing the law as a great opportunity for progress and cultural transformation. The event served as a reminder of the ongoing fight for gender equality and the crucial role that women play in the Armed Forces and beyond.
